How do teams qualify for the AIA Global Tournament?

Teams qualify by earning invitations from designated AIA qualifying events worldwide. See our News page for the current qualifier list and timelines.

Is the Global Tournament an end-of-season event?

No. The Tournament rotates globally and is not an end-of-season event. It serves as a pinnacle invitational for AIA member events.

Tournament Rules and Scoring

Rules: The championships will follow IASF guidelines for routine safety rules.
- Some modifications may be made based on the AIA Rules committee.
- IASF Guidelines
- Minimum of 16 athletes required to compete.

Scoring

A hybrid version of the comparative scoring system with rubric system component will be used in the tournament. Scores for each team will be announced live at the tournament once finalized.

The AIA Global Tournament Scoring System (English, Spanish & French)

All Star Cheer Divisions
Traditional Divisions: (All Star divisons that include tumbling)
Levels 1 through 7 (Open Level 1 and U16 Level 7 are not recognized divisions at the AIA tournament.
Non-Tumbling Divisions: Levels 2 through 7
Age & Coed Divisions:
- U16: NT, Coed L4 - L5 (Levels 2-6)
- U18: NT, Coed L3 - L6 (Levels 2-6)
- Open: NT, Coed L3 - L7 (Levels 2-7)
Division Changes
Teams are allowed to change divisions in the level the received the invitation to the tournament in.
Teams may NOT change their level.
Athletes qualify based on the age they will be on December 31, 2026. This means their birth year determines their eligibility for the 2025-2026 competition season
MODIFIED (MOD) DIVISIONS: Modification of a division that lowers the bottom age requirement.
December 31, 2026. Athletes may be 16 years old at the time of competition, provided they do not run 17 on/or before December 31, 2026
U16 - 2026. Athletes born between 2010 and 2016 (inclusive) are eligible. Athletes may be 9 years old at the time of competition, provided they turn 10 on/or before
U18/SENIOR - 2026. Athletes born between 2007 and 2013 (inclusive) are eligible. Athletes may be 12 years old at the time of competition, provided they turn 13 on/or

before December 31, 2026. Athletes may be 19 years old at the time of competition, provided they do NOT turn 20 any point during the 2026 competition year.
OPEN: Athletes born on 2011 or before are eligible. Athletes may be 14 years old at the time of the competition, provided they turn 15 years old on/or before December 31, 2026

Fair Competition Rule

No country will be prohibited from competition in any level or division within the AIA Global Tournament.
No country will be guaranteed passage to any round or placement.
